Cognac Fête will be held at the river port of Cognac. This year many artists will be present to enliven the four day Cognac event.
Each evening young Charentais farmers welcome you to enjoy wine, cognac, pineau, and local dishes from Poitou-Charentes. Free concerts every evening from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

FESTIVAL OF SAINTES

July

Rarely does Saintes celebrate commemorations and anniversaries, but this year, exceptionally for its 38th Festival, we celebrate Handel, Haydn and Mendelssohn. Many later composers have revisited and developed their oeuvre. Our approach puts these great oratorio composers at the heart of our midday concerts. Renaissance works will include Mendelssohn’s Elijah and some of his symphonies, Haydn’s trios and quartets, Handel’s Anthems and pieces by Bach, the Leipzig Cantor.

We welcome for the first time at Saintes this summer young artists and groups who have benefitted from the heritage of these, their prestigious elders. They have developed their own education from these and the aesthetique revolution of the 70s, sometimes in opposition and at others extending it, thus creating their own musical identity.

They bring their own unique contributions to this festival.

Blues Passions

July - August

for the 16 th consecutive year, the entire city of Cognac will be alive to Afro-American rhythms: warm hearts and young talent, little known artists, and legendary stars will take you body and soul into the fascinating history of the blues.

Coup de chauffe

In early September, wandering artists will tease you with their patter men, criers and pavement knockers. This cheery band will lead a noisy extravaganza through the streets of Cognac.
