Getting here
Thanks to the twin benefits
of low-cost airlines like Ryan Air and the advent of the Eurostar,
travelling anywhere in France from the UK is not difficult or
too time-consuming. The French domestic rail network SNCF is highly
subsidised and reliable.
We have sketched out some
pointers but do use the further information links below.
Geo Localisation
Latitude: 45.68441725225932
Longitude: -0.49013614654541015
GPS - Warning
If you are
using GPS it will direct you to the bac a chaine between Dompierre
and Rouffiac - please note this is ONLY available through the
summer and closed for most of the year. Either take the route
to Brives coming from Cognac or route to St Sever coming from
Saintes and not continue into Dompierre. If in doubt please call
for directions.
By
ferry and car
Brittany Ferries operates
a service from the Poole and Portsmouth in the UK to Caen, Le
Havre, Cherbourg or St Malo which is a six hour drive by car to
les Petit Sapins, Rouffiac. You can also take ferries to Calais,
and Boulogne, then drive via Rouen and Poitiers to the Charente.
There is space for at least 4 cars to park at the front of the
house. Also Ferries from Ireland.
By
air:
Ryanair: from London Stansted
to La Rochelle and starting in the Spring to
Angouleme from 99p single, excluding tax. Prices vary from British
Airways
but you have more airport flexibility from around the UK to Bordeaux
and Angouleme.
Or, for those with their own
private plane, why not arrive in style at the local Pons airfield!
By train
Take the Eurostar to Lille,
then switch to a TGV service continuing as far as Angouleme then
finally to Cognac. Either pick up your hire-car or a taxi to Rouffiac.
The journey by Eurotunnel/Eurostar to Calais is fast and the remaining
distance is by motorway nearly all the way to Saintes.
